Catholic Education in the Albury region has a long and rich tradition dating as far back as 1868 involving the Sisters of Mercy and Christian Brothers.

Sisters of Mercy arrived in Albury to take over St Brigid’s School. |
| 1885 |
Patrician Brothers opened a school for boys in Olive Street. |
| 1898 |
After the departure of the Patrician Brothers, the Sisters of Mercy carried on both schools.

1917
|
The Christian Brothers arrived in Albury and took responsibility for the education of the boys establishing the Christian Brothers College in Smollett Street.
That same year the Sisters of Mercy inaugurated St Joseph’s Ladies College with the motto ‘Courage and Faith’.

1959
|
The secondary section of the boys’ school was relocated to Fallon Street, North Albury and named Aquinas College with the motto ‘Doctrinae Radiis’ (With roots in teaching).

1983
|
The motto of Xavier High School is “The Truth Will Set Us Free”. The first Principal was Brother John Henry Thornber and the Assistant Principal Sr Gwenda Livermore.
Xavier High School continued to use the sites of the two schools until January 2001, when the Olive Street site was vacated and all Years 7 to 12 settled on the newly refurbished Fallon Street site (Stage 1)

Xavier High School appoints its first lay Principal, Mr Neville Powles and comes directly under the auspices of the Diocese of Wagga Wagga Catholic Schools Office.

2003
|
Completion of the Library and Arts centre finalises the school’s Stage 2 development.

2007
|
Construction of new classroom block, locker bays and toilets commences the school’s Stage 3 development.
